A practical demonstration of laying a length of hose on a bight and making it up using Dutch roll method
A practical demonstration of how to use the ladder to fight fire with leglock was carried out by the firemen on duty. Each fireman practically demonstrated the sitting position for leglock. During this exercise, the safety precautionary measures and sitting position to be observed while fighting the fire on the ladder was reiterated and demonstrated. This exercise was carried out for most part of the day.
At 9:00am, all firemen assembled for a dry hose drill (H1 – Laying a Line of Hose), using the pillar hydrant as the designated water source. The newly recruited firemen were actively involved in the exercise to familiarize them with the drill routine. They were assigned to the key roles (No. 1 and No. 4) to accelerate their learning and ensure hands-on participation.
At 9:00hrs, all gas plant firemen and trainees were mobilized for a combined H1 to H4 dry drill using the foam-making branch with Pillar hydrant as the source of water. This exercise involves deploying a hose, connecting the foam-making branch, and attaching the pickup tubing. The foam branch is designed specifically for foam-based firefighting, while the pickup tubing allows the F-500 fire suppression liquid to be drawn from its container, ensuring rapid and effective fire response. After a short break, multiple cycle of drills was conducted for the trainees for most part of the day to ensure confidence, accuracy, and reinforcement.
